Routines are something that every teacher needs, in order to have a successful classroom environment. With that being said, classroom routine and procedures are something that need to be established from day one. The procedures will be constructed by the class.

Morning Routine
- To start the day, I will always want to do a morning greeting with the students. This is something that I am very adiment about doing because it shows every child, who walks through the door to start the day, that you care about them. A morning greeting is a fun way to get the day started. There will be a different activity, each and every day. This will keep students intrigued and interested in how the day will start.
- After the greeting, the teacher will explain what he expects out of the students that day. He will go over the schedule of the day and explain what they, the class, will do to complete that set schedule. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.2.3
Afternoon Routine
- After lunch, the teacher will take the students on a restrooom break. This will happen every day because I believe it is a good transition from the cafeteria to the classroom. It gives students time to wind down after a period of no instruction, and gets them ready for the period of instruction that will take place for the rest of the afternoon.
- To make the transition a little easier on the students, after the restroom break, the students will have an additional 10 minutes of free time to do whatever they want within the classroom. Again, this should make for a smoother transition back into instruction.
Procedures
- Lining up: Use a number system; when the teacher says "One", the students sit quiet and look ready for the hall. When the teacher says "Two", the students stand up, and push in their chair. And when the teacher says "Three", the students quietly line up.
- Leaving the room: Students will be asked to carry a hall pass when leaving the room without the teacher. And when the class is in the hall together, everyone is to keep hands to themselves and they are to stay quiet so that other classrooms aren't disturbed.
- Handing in homework: At the beginning of every school day, students will hand in any assignment that was due that day. The homework will be collected in the "Homework Basket" in the back of the room. Students will be marked whether or not they completed the work.
- General supplies: Each group has supplies at their table to share. They are to take care of what they have and will be held accountable for damaged or lost supplies.
- Classroom jobs: At the beginning of each week, every student will have a new job to do. These jobs will be simple tasks such as paper passer, pencil sharpener, clean up crew, etc. Students have to do this job for the entire week.
- Seating: At the beginning of each week, students will be assigned a different seat to sit at for the week. This helps build classroom community and allows students to sit with different people each week.
- Classroom library: When students have completed their work that is to be done, they are allowed to go back to the classroom library, on their own, and sit down and read a book of their choice. Students are allowed to take the book back to their desk or they are allowed to sit around the classroom. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.3 CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.4 CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.10
- Lost items: In the storage section of the room, there will be a lost and found. If students have lost something within the room, they are allowed check the lost and found at the beginning and/or end of the day to see if they can find their lost item.
- Names on the paper: If the teacher comes across a paper with no name, it will be put on the back kidney table for children to look through and find the assignment that they have completed, put their name on it, and then re-submit it back into the homework basket. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.2.8
- Helping other students: If a student comes across something that they have a question on, they are allowed to collaborate with a peer to help answer the question that the student may have. Only time when this is not allowed, is when the teacher wants the class to do individual work. When a question arises during this time, students will be asked to raise their hand and ask the teacher.
